Skeletal System

- Scoliosis

Scoliosis is medical condition in which a person's spine is curved from side to side. The spine of an individual scoliosis may look like a S or C rather than a straight line. The signs of scoliosis can include uneven muscultare on either side, uneven hips, arm, or leg length, or in some cases, slow nerve action. Surgery is usually reccomended for curves with a high likelihood of progression.

- Osgood-Schlatter Disease

Osgood-Schlatter disease is an inflamatory disease that affects the bone, cartlige, and tendon where the kneecap attaches to the shinbone. OSD occurs at the beginning of growth spurts for active adolescents (young people) - for girls, between 8-13 years old, and for boys, between the ages of 10 and 15. Treatment for OSD includes resting the affected joint and medications to reduce inflammation and pain.

- Ewing's Sarcoma

Ewing's Sarcoma is a cancer that occurs near the bone. The thigh bone is the most common place for Ewing's sarcoma to appear. Symptoms that adolescents (young people) might experience include pain, swelling, and redness around the tumor site, fatigue, weightloss, and fever. Tumor removal, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are standard treatment options for Ewing's Sarcoma.

Respiratory System

- Bronchial Asthma is the condition of subjects with widespread narrowing of the bronchial airways, which changes in severity over short periods of time (either spontaneously or under treatment) and leads to cough, wheezing, and difficulty in breathing. The treatment for this disease is with bronchodilators, with or without corticosteroids, usually administered with aerosol or dyr-powder inhalers, or, if the condition is more severe, by a nebulizer.

- Chronic Bronchitis is not primarily an inflammatory condition, although it is frequently complicated by acute infections. The disease is particularly prevalent in Britain in association with cigarette smoking, air pollution, and emphysema. Treatment of most people with chronic bronchitis is to quit cigarette smoking and avoid air-borne bronchial irritants. Medical treatments include bronchodilators, steroids, and oxygen therapy.

-  Hay Fever is a form of allergy due to the pollen of grasses, trees, and other plants, characterized by inflammation of the lining of the nose and sometimes of the conjunctiva. Hay Fever does not always require medical treatment. Just avoid known or suspected allergens.
